What Lifts You?

Have you guys heard of the What Lifts You Campaign? Kelsey Montague is the artistic genius behind these street murals that can be found all over the world. She started creating these images to provide people the opportunity to share more about what inspires them in life. I would say her most famous mural is the one with the angel wings, you know.. the one Taylor Swift posed in front of?!

I recently came across this What Lifts You? #MuralOnMott in NYC, and it really resonated with me now that I am starting my senior year at my absolute dream school – Villanova University. I had my sights set on Villanova ever since I was a junior in high school. I would literally have dreams about attending and I actually cried when I got accepted that’s how genuinely HAPPY I was!

That being said, when I saw this What Lifts You? mural, one of my favorite quotes came to mind – We rise by lifting others. While I was applying to Villanova, my family and friends lifted me when I needed support and encouragement. Then, when I got to Villanova and made new friends and experiences, they lifted me as well.

But let’s be real…I’m not going to sit here and say that every day I’ve had at Villanova was all rainbows and butterflies. My classes have been hard, I’ve gotten home-sick, and I had someone close to me try and claim Villanova for his own.

It was during these times that I depended on my friends, family, and love of dance to “lift me up.” I’m so happy that I’m starting my senior year off surrounded by only the people in my life who truly lift me, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store!

It just so happened that the Little Cupcake Bakeshop was right around the corner from this mural, so of course I had to go stop in! I can never say no to dessert 😉
